    Position Summary:

    Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Financial Aid Assistant-Department of Corrections.  This position will provide administrative support to the Financial Aid office and the Department of Corrections (DOC) online students. This position will also process financial aid documents received, prepare material for scanning and track application progress through financial aid processes. Travel to the Department of Corrections (DOC) facilities will be required.

    The successful candidate will have an Associate degree and two years of related work experience, including financial aid experience. 

    This position is partially funded by the DOC Support Career Pathways Grant from the Wisconsin Technical College system through June 30, 2026.

    Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the primary financial aid contact for the DOC students, oversee the communication and document share between the Financial Aid office and the DOC online students. Provide support to employees facilitating this program for students at the DOC facilities. Assist in completion of FAFSA’s at the DOC facilities.
    • Serve as primary customer service representative for the department. Provide timely customer service to students and employees via phone, email, or in-person connection. Serve as the primary documents received team member for Financial Aid. Receive and process incoming mail in the ERP system.
    • Track students’ application and progress through financial aid processes for the Prison Education Program.
    • Conduct financial aid presentations.
    • Inform students of available financial aid resources, assist students in making applications and completing the required documentation, and provide financial aid information to resolve customer service problems.
    • Review Financial Aid documents for completeness and accuracy and follow up with students as needed.
    • Provide backup to the financial aid team members as needed.
    • Provide technical assistance to the financial aid team members in daily tasks to ensure the timely completion of the assessment of files. Recommend process improvements to increase office efficiency.

     

    Experience & Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of document scanning and preparation tasks.
    • Proficiency in business math. Ability to maintain accurate and complete records.
    • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures, terminology, and equipment.
    • Knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Office 365 (Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
    • Ability to take initiative, work independently with little supervision and make sound decisions with minimal direction.

    Hiring Range: $22.72-$26.73 (Pending board approval)

    Starting: Immediately

    Workplace Flexibility: Limited work from home upon approval

    Hours/Schedule: Academic: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (37.5hrs), Summer: Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (34hrs)

    Travel: Travel to Department of Corrections facilities will be required.
